8 Food Places You CAN'T Miss in France

Updated: Jan 20, 2019

When visiting France the French cuisine almost certainly is one of the main focuses for the trip. Delicious crêpes, warm baguettes and smelly cheese are just some of the French delicacies you get to enjoy. So I decided to compile a list of my top 8 food places you can't miss when visiting France!

Le Triskell Restaurant, Quiberon France

1. Le Cafe De Maria

Located in the beautiful South Bretagne town of Quiberon, Le Cafe de Maria serves delicious seafood and french cuisine. Despite not having lucked out on the location (Hidden away from the center of the town behind a sandwich shop) this restaurant serves some of the best food I've ever tasted and by that I mean grilled prawns and chocolate soup with vanilla bean ice cream. The restaurant is only a short walk from the Sofitel in Quiberon where we were staying but if you don't want to get lost I'd advise you take a taxi.

2. Crêperie La Cloche

Serving up tradtional crêpes Crêperie La Cloche was one of our stops along the winding street in Mont Saint Michel. What seems to first be small and significant turns out to be a busy, little restaurant with two floors. Be aware though that this place fills up quickly, its one of the restaurants nearer to the base of Mont Saint Michel and so is often overcrowded with tourists.

3. Restaurant Les 7 Mers

Fine dining the French way is always a good idea in this seafood restaurant in Saint Malo. Don't leave without trying the Sole Meunière, which they personally prepapre for you at the table. But don't fall for the fancy names of the food. Potato Pulp with Smoked Haddock is literally just smoky mashed potato and the starter with the squid ink seaweed and foam is pretty self explanatory. Foam is NOT food!

4. Villa Margot

Another restaurant right in the heart of Quiberon town serves a variety of seafood, meat and french cuisne. While not a favorite of my travel buddy Juliana, I loved it from the samosas we had to start to the monkfish and finally the chocolaty desert!

5. Moulin Du Grand Poulguin

A taditional old mill restaurant in Pont-Aven, Moulin Du Grand Poulguin was one of my FAVORITE restaurants of all the ones we tried. Delicious crêpes and incredible deserts that cannot be challenged are served here so do make sure this is number 1 on your list.

6. New York Style Sandwiches

As you can probably tell by the name this place didn't serve French food but it did offer some delicious Manhattan delicacies! You can find this place on the outskirts of DisneyLand Paris and for fish and chips and two waters it wasn't quite as expensive as you would think for a Disney operation.

7. La Mie Caline

A small bakery in Saint Lo was the perfect place for a few morning pastries while exploring the town. I had a scrumptious pain au chocolat and a mouth-watering chocolate brioche thing that I can't quite remember the name of but oh well! The point is that this place was epic and definitely worth as visit!

8. Maison Hector Cafe- Gaufrerie, Sandwicherie

This is certainly not a place I would have thought of by myself but one of my good friends actually took me there when we had an hour to kill in Saint Malo one day. I shared a chocolate doughnut with Juliana (Travel Tip: Share food to lower the price) So my biggest advice for this place is to try their doughnuts, because they are hands down some of the best I've ever tried.

Okay, thats it for today. If you have any questions about any of the places mentioned, either visit their website (linked) or contact me using the designated contact page. Au revoir pour maintenant!
