Top 5 Hotel Hacks

Writer: Donny Marco BarnesDonny Marco Barnes

When you go abroad it's very tempting to pack that extra bottle of shampoo and some slippers just in case but is it really that necessary when the hotel provides it for you? Not only can you save room in your bags but you can also make room to bring stuff home. Here are the top things that can save you the most room in your suitcase when traveling:

  1. Toiletries: Almost every hotel 3 stars and above will provide shampoo, conditioner and body wash. So don’t waste your time and money buying extra bottles to bring in your suitcase when you can get them for free in your hotel room.

  2. Slippers: Many people love the feeling of warm, fuzzy slippers on their feet. And it's very tempting to just slip that comfy pair into your suitcase, but hotels do provide slippers in various different sizes which are just as good.

  3. Robes/Dressing Gowns: Like slippers hotels commonly provide robes or dressing gowns. Packing a robe/dressing gown in your suitcase takes up a lot of space because of the volume of it so try to leave it at home and use the one provided for you.

  4. Hairdryers: My friend Julie used to be constantly searching around the hotel room looking for a plug socket close to a mirror as soon as we were inside our room. But upon arrival we tend to find that one of the drawers contains a dryer anyway. Bringing your trusty dryer from home can be useful in case your hotel doesn't provide them, but they do take up loads of space so take this into account when packing.

  5. Travel Guides and Maps: Many tourists stock up on maps and guide books before going away. Getting lost in a foreign country can be very frustrating but in the few hours from the airport to your accommodation you will unlikely get lost. Either pick up a map at the airport, get one from the concierge or use google maps on your phone. All very reliable sources! Although they don’t take up much space it can be helpful to have less paper flying around especially when you already have your passport and boarding card to worry about.

Okay that's it for this post I hope you enjoyed it and don’t forget to subscribe for future posts. Thanks for reading!
